Fred And Kim Goldman Tell Their Fact About ‘if I Did It: Confessions Of The Killer’

(Transcript of live interview, December 2008)

Juanita Watson, host: nowadays, I have on the program, Fred & Kim Goldman, the father & sister of Ron Goldman who was tragically murdered by with Nicole Brownish Simpson in Brentwood CA in June of 1994.

In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson stated how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins called off the script. A Florida bankruptcy court awarded the rights to the Goldmans in August 2007 to partially satisfy the unpaid civil judgment, which has risen, with concern, to over $38 million.

Amidst much controversy & critique, The Goldman family has recently published “If I Did It; Confessions of the Killer,” which they conceive as O.J.’s confession, & has worked stiff to ensure that the public will read this book & learn the fact. This book is the uncommon manuscript legitimate by O.J. Simpson, with up to fourteen,000 words of key additional comment.

I’m very glad to have the Goldmans on the show nowadays, to speak about the waddle they have been on to get the rights to this script, the confusion that has been created in the media around their tale, & recent events that have OJ benefit in the spotlight.

Juanita: So slouch us through that; how you ended up with the rights to this script.

Fred: Well, premier of all if we had it to once more nowadays, we would do the correct same thing. We talked out against the book for numerous reasons. One, we wanted to stop him from making money on the murders of Ron & Nicole, & 2, we were concerned as to what the contents of the book were, fearful that it could be the equivalent of a how to manual. In the end, we indispensable that he had already been paid near to $700,000 & was expecting more. He had another $300,000 coming as an betterment. So unfortunately, he had already been paid. Additionally, once we were competent to acquire a copy of the manuscript, we discovered that no, it was not a manual on how to commit slaying, but it’s a read that once you go through it, you have very little excuse to conveive that it was an admission of guilt, a confession. And we levied down the right on the book in squawk to prevent him from ever so so maximizing any additional cash, & in doing so, we in the finalizes since he & his children who had formed a spurious enterprise, formed a company to vanish the money from Harper Collins to the killer to avoid the judgment. And in doing so, they in the finalizes filed bankruptcy of that company in boom to annul, to stop us from getting the rights to the script. And it is through bankruptcy that the rights were awarded to us since the asset, the rights, had to be became into money accordant to the bankruptcy courtroom. And the bankruptcy court gave us the option to be affected in that. We picked out to do that since we acknowledged that there was a very premier opportunity that the rights could in the finalizes have gone benefit to the killer, & we would have right benefit to square one. So we got affected & promised the court that we would do everything we could to monetize that asset.

Juanita: I’d be glad to know both of your reactions upon learning the book for the premier time & going through, especially where he is talking that confrontation in the courtyard with Nicole & Ron. What were your reactions to learning this for the premier time?

Fred: Well, for me if I may, I started it numerous times & had a stiff time getting into it, but at last, I found it very disturbing, very disturbing since I understood that I was learning the words of the monster that murdered my son. And needless to state by the time we got to the denotative chapter in which he talks about murdering Ron & Nicole, that was a real struggle for me & very aching. It was achy for the obvious reasons & it was additionally achy for me to listen to him review if you would how he taunted Ron & how he made fun of Ron. This man is a monster, a allotment of trash, calling him a murderer is not adequate.

Kim: I do not recognize. I do not know that I have much more to constribute. I conveive the premier time I read it or I skimmed it, I was looking to see if there was anything descriptive in there. Because all the criticism was that we were publishing a murder manual. And then when I at last sat down down down in the quiet of my individual say, I was incredibly moved by that paragraph, I mean by that chapter. For me, it didnt deviate from the criminal subject. I already acknowledged the fact, but listening to the killer sort of symbolize all of the emotion from that night & all of the excitement & I do not mean that in a understandable path, apparently, but savor all of the energy that was happening, that was stiff for me since I have all of the time wondered about those last couple of minutes of Ron’s life.

Juanita: How near to the truth do you feel that that text & that recollection is? Do you conveive that that is pretty near to the fact?

Kim: I do. You know the only thing that was fresh truth for me was the dog that was wagging his plod. You recognize, I estimate it comes down to this for me at the finalizes of the daytime. An innocent person would not write a book savor this. An innocent person would not sit down down down & write a hypothetical about how he would have killed the mother of his kids, an innocent person. So I walked into it believing that he was confessing, so everything that I read, I came from the mindset that it was pretty damn near to what happened that nighttime. But for me I am learning it from a place that this is his confession & I am going to take what he is telling is the fact.

Fred: And additionally, I think it’s substantial to know that he does not contradict virtually any evidence at all. As a matter of information, he in numerous fashions explains things that were unknown. He makes a point of commenting on the route that he took help to his home from Nicole’s. And that is how numerous thought it was one path. He is going to clearup. He stated you exactly how he drove home. Additionally, I think for me his commentary about being covered in blood & that at numerous point, he took off his clothes before getting into his vehicle. He took off his outerwear & bundled it all conjointly, which for me would explain why in information, there was not even more blood in the vehicle. He is so imperious that he in the finalizes ends of telling you virtually everything since quote un quote “he knows better than anyone” & he wants to be certain that you know that.

Juanita: Did you have any other hopes for having this book on the shelves?

Kim: I conveive I know that my father & I feel very strongly about this is, you know most of the book is written about how his relationship was with Nicole & how abusive that relationship is, & so if there is an opportunity for a madam to read it & identify herself with Nicole & then someway have the courage & strength to get out of that kinship, then you know we have done a splendid thing. And I conveive I hope that people trek away with numerous hope in that regard if in data they are in that position. My father & I as well added a victim’s resource section to this script, & we as well are donating a section of the proceeds to the Ron Goldman Foundation of Justice so we might help other victims of crimes sort of navigate themselves through this horrific procedure.

Juanita: So, how might listeners procure out more about the Ron Goldman Foundation? Do you have a internet?

Kim: RonGoldmanFoundation dot org it’s in 2 stages my father & I over the last thirteen years have been volunteering our time to speak out on behalf of victim’ rights & this is the premier time from a financial situation to try to contribute & help in numerous styles. So we have numerous ideas of how we longing to further assist & I conveive it’s more partnering with the other organizations that are doing such astonishing work on behalf of victims’ rights.

Juanita: What are the families that you have talked to that have read this book that you know have had family members in domestic abuse situations. What are their comments on this story & the point of concept of an abuser?

Kim: We have had an astronomical absolute of email coming into the internet. Once more, once people understood our reasoning for doing it, people were very supportive. I had one madam in particular state me that she appreciated that we were bold adequate to do this since it takes courage to fight your assailant no matter what if you are in an abusive relationship or if you are in this kind of position, the courage it takes to do that, & she appreciated it since it reminded her of the courage it took her to leave her abusive husband I think that unless you have walked in our skids, you cannot completely embrace the struggle, & I do not fault anybody for that, but that is just, you know this is a commitment that we have made & this is a indispensable thing that we for us to be doing to ensure that he is held responsible.

Juanita: I just wanted to let you both section any final thoughts that you would savor to before we finalizes nowadays.

Fred: I conveive the only thing that is identifiable to all of the time remember is that we would appreciate to see a justice system that cares more about the victims in this country than it does about the criminals & the charged. And unfortunately right nowadays, the bicycle criminal justice system seems to very clearly define the system. Maybe if it was called the victims’ justice system & clearly was more concerned about victims, we had all be in a better as a land. Victims in this country account for stout toll, sizable toll on our society, both physically & financially, & a system that works stiff to ensure that violent people are set benefit out on the street is not the kind of system that I conveive most people in this country would delight in. So, as people get affected in the discomfort or learning about the kind of trauma that occurs from violent law-breaking, hopefully they will start to speak out as do victims already in this country to in the finalizes finalizes up with a system that is there for the enormous majority of us instead of the couple of that commit all the crimes.

Kim: I as well longing to add specifically as it relates to this denotative book that I hope that the next time someone goes to shake his hand or get an autograph from him that they are reminded that those are the hands that killed 2 folks. And I hope that our efforts & the efforts of this country to ensure that justice prevails that he is pushed into a state of exile & you know & that he just sort of falls by the wayside. That would be fantastic for us.

Juanita: Wonderful, final thoughts. Thank you so much for talking to us nowadays. Practically sympathy for your loss & we for sure back you & your endeavors for victims of crimes. Thank you so much for your time today Fred & Kim.
